Bethany Athletics Update:

The Bethany Swedes softball team took care of business Friday February 18th sweeping the Hastings Broncos. Game one the Swedes shutout the Broncos 9-0. The Swedes were led by Melinda Cratty who had three RBI’s, and Cambree Aguirre who collected four strikeouts. Game two the Swedes won 12-4. Leah Rivera had two strikeouts and two RBI’s with Allison Rosa having one.

The Bethany Cheer and Dance team competed in the 2022 KCAC Cheer and dance Conference Championships held at Bethel College Saturday February 19th . Bethany’s cheer team in the prelims received a score of 59.45 placing them in 7th. Bethany in the finals were able to improve their score to 60.38. The dance team only having one opportunity to perform received a 45.5 to finish off the night.

Sunday February 20th the Bethany Swedes Baseball Team hosted the No. 20 Oklahoma City University Stars. The Stars in game one dominated with home runs in the first three innings finishing the Swedes off 4-0. In game two the Swedes would lose a close one 5-4. Bethany’s Tyler Freeman recorded 2 RBI’s with David Espinal and Luis Ramos having 1. The Swedes next weekend will travel to Baker University to compete in the Rube Foster Classic, February 26th and 27th.

The Swedes wrestling team traveled to Ottawa Kansas Saturday to compete in the KCAC Conference Championships. Jesse Gardner was able to finish 4th in the 165lb division. At 184lbs, Chase Pywell won the 5th place match after starting off slow. William Mason finished 3rd after winning his first match. He would lose in the second match, but was able to win the 3rd place match. Kaden Goff finished the highest placing 2nd in the 141lb division. Goff was able to pin his way up to the final, but would fall to Hartwell Taylor of Saint Mary. The Swedes overall finished with 42 team points placing 6th.
