Homecoming Weekend

Updated: Oct 24, 2022

October 11th 2022, BY Edith Mauch

The homecoming committee has decided that since Hillningsfest is not occurring this year, that there should be even more fun-packed events this year.

The homecoming activities start Wednesday October 19th at 9:00 pm in the amphitheater. There will be a voting social and a kick-off for Lift High The Cross. The voting social has occurred for several years. It allows students to gather together to vote on the final round of homecoming. Lift High The Cross has been a beloved campus tradition for since 1992. Bethany College students, faculty, and staff take turns lifting a wooden cross in the gazebo for every hour of the week before Homecoming. It is a wonderful opportunity to continue this wonderful campus tradition and celebrate the college’s faith.

Thursday October 20th from 8:00 pm to 10:30 pm will be a Student Government Association hosted dance. This dance has not occurred since 2019, so SGA is extremely excited to bring this classic homecoming event back! Join us to dance, chat with friends, and have a blast!

The homecoming coronation is taking place right after the Student Activity Board Talent Show, which is Friday October 21st at 7:00 pm in Presser. Both events will be great opportunities to socialize and have lots of fun while watching talented Bethany students perform and while seeing who will be the Homecoming King and Queen!

Come join us from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the entrance of the Hahn Gym on Bethany College’s campus for a tailgate! The Bethany College cafeteria will be serving walking tacos. Bethany College students with a meal plan can bring their Bethany ID to use as a meal swipe and get free walking tacos. The tailgate is also open to the community! Admission for adults is $10 and admission for children ages 4-11 is $5.

The fun-filled activities for the day do not stop there! After the tailgate, Bethany students are welcome join us to conclude the homecoming activities with a pie social at 6:00 pm at the entrance of the Hahn Gym. There will be an assortment of delicious fall-styled pies, including pumpkin, apple, pecan, and chocolate.
