Sweater Weather

BY: Allison Young OCTOBER 5, 2022

LINDSBORG KS- Oh hey freshman and transfers I know some of you haven't experienced the cold. Oh? You only have flannel and air force ones….Um yea, you're gonna need something thicker. Have you ever heard of a coat that is lined with fleece? You might want to invest.

My people from not cold places listen here, YOU NEED SOMETHING MORE THAN A HOODIE! I learned the hard way. Please do not go back home and buy jackets and coats unless they are fleece/wool lined. Even coats that have a warm padding in the inner lining make a huge difference. You need those things to stay warm.

Some stores that have your fall fashion include Buckle, Marshalls, Dicks, and Ross. If you would like to shop out of Salina. I would go to Macy's, or Burlington, both located in Wichita. Even the target has a lot of options for fall.

Some reliable designers include North Face, Carhart, L.L. Bean, and more. Please keep in mind the amount you are spending will be worth the years you are here. It is so worth it. Yes, the jackets are expensive, but worth the price. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet on things that will keep you from getting hypothermia and frostbite. Listen and if you can not spend the money. Go to Goodwill in Salina. Or if you don’t have any form of transportation please go to the TACOL Thrift Store here in town. Also a great way to find winter clothing is Buy, Sell, Trade on Facebook. They will have a variety of choices for you.

Moving on from coats, let's talk about shoes. Fellas with the Versace and Coach sandals please do not wear those, even if you have fuzzy socks with them. It’s not worth losing toes for your big fashion ego. Stay warm and get over it. Some shoes and boots you should try to invest in are some Timberlands, Uggs, also “A Leader” or any type of work boot. Ladies no more sandals you need a pair of boots just like in the description above. You are going to thank me.

When thinking about fall fashion, yes you can wear your cute flannels, and crewnecks with a beanie or any headwear. But just be aware that it could get colder. I would start out with your long sleeve and flannel but as the months go on make sure you have something heavier.

If you have any questions make sure you ask some of your professors, older teammates or coaches about the weather here and what you should invest in clothing wise. Or you can follow me on Instagram, @AllisonRenaeYoung if you need assistance in your clothing choices. Have fun shopping for the cold!
