Swedes win 3 game series over Kansas Wesleyan 2-1

The Bethany Swedes Men's Baseball team hosted the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes in a three-game weekend series. The Swedes game one came out hot, scoring twice in the 1st inning. Noel Perez would put the Swedes on the board after Luis Gorritz hit a sacrifice ball. The scoring would continue in the 3rd when Joseph Rivera and David Espinal scored off of Caleb Copeland’s 2 RBI triple. Keyvan Grenald would start 6 innings having 10 strikeouts on 126 pitches. The Swedes would take the Coyotes game 1 6-4.

Game 2 the Coyotes would come out firing early scoring 2 runs in the 2nd and 3rd inning taking a 4-0 lead. Luis Ramos would hit a double, clearing bases at the end of the 3rd to trim the lead 4-3. No team would score again until the 6th inning, with Kansas Wesleyan scoring. The Coyotes would take the lead by plating 2 runs. Noel Perez in the 8th would single to score Caleb Copeland and give the Swedes the lead going into the 9th inning. Manuel Rodriguez started 6 innings at pitcher and finished with 13 strikeouts on 129 pitches. The Swedes would take a 2-0 lead in the series-winning 8-7.

Game 3 the Coyotes came out with 21 unanswered runs before the Swedes responded in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Luis Ramos put the Swedes up on the board when he hit a sacrifice fly to score Kenneth O’Farrill. Noel Perez also hit a sacrifice fly to score Joseph Rivera to give the Swedes 2 points on the board. Amilkar Perez would start at pitcher but would only go 1 inning with 1 strikeout on 38 pitches. The Swedes would have a total of 8 pitchers that had at least 1 out in the contest. Antonio Moreno led all Swedes pitchers by striking out 3 Coyotes.
